Fix: staking is enabled but you never win

Support safety (read this first)

  • Admins/devs will not DM you first. Keep support conversations public (Telegram group / GitHub issues).
  • Never share your seed phrase, private keys, or wallet.dat with anyone.
  • Use only official download links (https://reddcoin.com / https://redd.love / https://download.reddcoin.com). Beware look‑alike sites.
  • If someone asks you to “verify” by sending coins, installing remote-control software, or sharing secrets (seed/private key), it’s a scam.
  • When sharing logs/screenshots publicly, redact personal info (paths, IPs, usernames). Do not redact block hashes needed for fork checks.
  • If you’re not sure what to back up (and where it lives), see Reference → Wallet files & locations in this knowledgebase.

Applies to: PoSV v2 staking on v4.22.x

The key idea

Your chance of receiving a stake depends on:

  • coin age (how long your coins have been eligible),
  • network conditions / difficulty (how many coins are staking),
  • your effective stake weight (how many coins are actually competing).

Admins often explain this as a “lottery ticket” model: small balances may take a very long time to win. 1

Quick checks

  1. Confirm staking is actually enabled: see Staking doesn’t start
  2. Leave Core running long enough — many users underestimate how long small balances take. 2

Practical expectations

  • Very small balances can look “stuck” for weeks/months (or longer).
  • Consolidating many tiny UTXOs into fewer can help practical stake behavior (but do this carefully; fees apply and you may reset coin age).
